COVID Vaccine Booster Shot

Our leadership team has been closely monitoring guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and local health officials for up to date COVID safety protocols and practices, as well as information about the available vaccines.

Recently the CDC expanded its recommendation regarding COVID vaccine booster shots to include everyone ages 18 years or older. The CDC is recommending a booster at six months from the initial dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination series or 2 months after the initial Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

As previously announced, Vulcan continues to provide our hourly and nonexempt employees with up to 4 hours of straight time base pay for each dose of the vaccine, up to a total of 8 hours, regardless of when it is obtained. In addition, Vulcan will also provide up to 4 hours of straight time pay for employees to obtain the booster shot. These hours will not count towards hours worked for the purposes of calculating overtime. To receive this compensation, individuals will need to show a copy of their vaccination certificate to their Plant Office Administrator or Manager who will then be responsible for approving the time.

Thank you to all who have taken advantage of this vaccine and are doing all you can to keep your family, our customers and Vulcan family members safe. If you have questions on any aspect of this memo, please contact Division/Corporate Human Resources.
